Landing Page Design and Split Testing Software I have tested and used several standard split testing scripts and two multivariate split testing software scripts. There are many scripts on the market that will do standard AB split testing.Standard AB Split Testing Scripts I have used are : Scientific Internet Marketing Assistant - SIMA released by Duncan Carver back in 2003 but I believe is no longer available. Split Run Test by PHPZEN software Easy Split Tester a free software that is a cut down version of a commercial product - the Split Test Accelerator
Whatever you use make sure that the split tester uses cookies to ensure each visitor is tagged and on a revisit are presented with the same page version they saw before. Multivariate Split Testing Scripts I have used are : MultiTrack Generator a product marketed by Armand Morin and developed by the renown software developer Marc Quarles.
However I would not recommend this software as having tested it for almost 4 weeks back in 2006, I found it to have significant bugs and short comings and support or interest to resolve them was limited. Split Test Accelerator by Jim Stone is a product I have evaluated, used and would recommend. It can be a little more tricky to set up than MultiTrack Generator but at least it does the job, unlike MTG.
One other multivariate testing software that I am aware of is KaizenTrack which is about 60% cheaper than either of the two versions above, but I'm not able to say anything more as I have never used it.
Improving Online Conversion Rate Hopefully you should appreciate from what I have said so far, that the only way to improve online conversion rate with any certainty is by using scientific testing methods.If someone says they can improve your online conversion rate through any other method, they are lying to you. Statistical sampling techniques have been around a long time and are applied routinely in the design, manufacture and quality testing of virtually all modern day industrial and retail products. Many of the quality techniques and methodologies were developed for manufacturing by the Japanese who introduced such concepts as Kaizen – meaning "change for the better" or "continual improvement." In order to be able to test these quality improvements Taguchi developed some mathematical techniques and equations to test the statistical validity of the outcome. It is these same Taguchi Methods that are applied to landing page design through the use of Multivariate Testing. The result is continual improvement to the page under test until the best online conversion rate possible is achieved.
