Page speed may not seem that relevant to seo but it is becoming an increasingly important factor to search engines as well as the people who visit a web site. Page speed is important to people because if they have to wait too long for a web page to load they will move to another page and another site. Page speed is important to search engines because the longer it takes the search engine’s crawler to load pages, the longer it must spend on a site. The longer a search engine crawler spends on a site the fewer sites it can crawl in a given time. For a search engine company this means to crawl slow sites requires more computer time and resources and this costs money. As the web continues to grow the likes of Google must either spend more on computing power or spend less time crawling slow sites. What do you think Google will do ?
Well Matt Cutts a spokesperson for Google on all matters seo has already hinted that page speed is an issue with Google. But as always with Google we don't know as yet how important an seo factor it is or might become, only time will tell.
