I chose to look at what seo optimization advice Web Position Gold 2 would offer in respect of 4 existing web pages already with a search engine ranks in the top 30 on a major search engine.

To make the assessment more demanding I chose web pages within seo optimization. It's reasonable to assume such pages hold their search engine ranks due to the expertise of the web page designer & optimizer.

Search engine ranks are due to good design not good luck.


An exact match query on the search engine for the phrase " search engine positioning " was run. The Page Critic of Web Position Gold 2 then analyzed the No.1, No.6, No.18 and No.30 search engine rank positions.

WPG was set up to analyze each page for search engine ranks on the exact phrase " search engine positioning." That meant all words must exist together. It's the logical AND not the OR function.

WPG was also set to analyze the pages based on its knowledge database for the same search engine on which the query was conducted. Also to provide summary results including the Top Average scores for pages on this search engine.

The report produced by WPG is displayed in a browser as a web page.
It comprises two parts :

Part 1 - Page areas it decides do not comply with its database guidelines

Part 2 - A report that includes all results on all elements it analyzes.

This can amount to a lot of data that can be mentally difficult to take in and make sense of. It's not possible to directly export the data into a program like Excel for further analysis.

Any two pages can be directly compared and a report produced as well as any page can be compared with any number of top pages in the search engine ranks.

In this latter report WPG calculates the top averages from the top number of pages selected and compares the page you chose against these averages. The report tool output format is the same in all cases.

 

Occasionally during this analysis, it was noted that WPG in its Part 1 report doesn't always point out areas of non-compliance with the averages against which it's comparing.

It may be that it does not consider them significant enough to mention.

In order to produce a summary for this article the results were copied & pasted into Excel and the following table produced.

Freq = Frequency, Prom = Prominence, Highlight Color = Non-compliant.

The No.1 search engine ranks had 7 non-compliant elements, the No.6 search engine ranks 3 non-compliant, the No.18 search engine ranks with 11 and the No.30, 6 non-compliant.

No.18 had 3 reported elements that one would think not worth mentioning. It had zero keyword's in the Title, Link Text & Body Text that as a result produced 0% keyword prominence in these areas.

Zero keyword's will produce 0% prominence is an obvious fact probably not worth reporting.

The same is true for the No.30 search engine ranks which also had zero keyword's in the Link Text & Body Text resulting in non-compliant reports of 0% prominence that didn't need reporting.
