As an internet optimizer, it's clear to me, that there is not one software or online position tool I have yet found that will do everything you need to do. If someone produced one they would surely have a winner. Until one comes along, position tools that exist are not perfect, as I have shown, but then what is. If you know and understand these position tools & techniques, and you should by reading some of my articles, then they do a reasonably good job, but with some limitations. It's certainly true to say that seo optimization would be very tedious, take very much longer and cost more money to do than it does by using these position tools. Competitor Analysis - Beating the Competition The thing to realize as an internet optimizer is that seo optimization is not an exact science. You can't guarantee a top ranking on search engins for any chosen keyword phrase or phrases. All I can say is, you greatly improve your chances of success. By that I mean getting into the top 30 if you apply the techniques I have written about and use some if not all of the position tools & seo optimization techniques I use. It's a reality that it's harder and requires more seo optimization to achieve success on some keyword phrases than it does on others. With a new web page or web site you can't overlook the fact established sites with a good ranking, have what you may not, and that's external links to the page.
A good linking strategy is becoming more important with many search engins and it's a trend likely to continue. After all it makes sense, the search engins want and need to provide accurate search results. What better way than to factor in not only what the page and site says it's about but also what links to the page from other sites say it's about. But it's no longer just a matter of the more links the better, quantity does not help, it's quality that counts. Quality links are those coming from sites offering similar or complimentary products, services or information. So just as with keyword relevancy you also have link relevancy, or how relevant is this incoming link from the page it's coming from to the page it's going to. There's link popularity, but that means different things to some people. Take an online service like www.linkpopularity.com where checks can be done on the link popularity of any page on the Internet on various search engins. They judge link popularity according to the quantity of links to a page. Whilst this may have been true in the past, times change and popularity is now starting to include other factors. I hope to cover more on this in my newsletter. But for now let's just say as an internet optimizer my research clearly shows that web pages with only 10's of external links can get higher rankings on competitive keyword phrases than pages with 1000's of links. |
