Getting a high ranking with the search engins often seems like a crap game. You roll the dice, sometimes you get the result you want, othertimes you don't, but the odds are stacked in favor of the house and in this case the search engins.A good Web site is designed to attract visitors to the site and influence them in ways that inform, or cause a response. What's good for communicating with people is not always good for communicating with search engins. Do your web pages have lots of graphics and little text ? Does your site use database/dynamic generated pages ? Do you use highly competitive keyword phrases ? Do you use keywords that deal with wide general topics ? Then the odds are, your pages will rank poorly in a search engins ranking. This creates a serious dilemma. How do you make web pages that are both pleasing, useful, and logical to humans AND present your keywords to search engins in such a way they recognize the relevancy of your page for these keyword phrases. 2. Include Quality content Human visitors love content, but make no mistake, providing good quality content takes time, work, and lots of it.There are sources for free content, articles and reports written by someone else. This can be a good source to get started, but at some point, you need to be able to create your own content. Let's face it, most people go online to get information. Create content for your niche market and visitors will have some reason to visit your site, once you have search engin traffic. It may take time but they will come. 3. Gain links Getting links coming to your site is important and probably the most important part of search engine optimization. But it's not just about link quantity, but link quality. A web site with good quality links from related sites, with good Google page rank and carefully crafted link text will always beat a web site with just 100's of poor quality links. As well as gaining a better ranking with search engins, links also bring traffic from those other sites to your site. As you create your own content, share it with other sites and have a link in the article back to your site. As your articles get added to other sites, the more links you get and believe me, search engins do find them. You must have a linking program in place through which you actively seek link partners. As your links grow, you will want to be able to semi-automate your links directory. There are some good linking scripts to do just that or you can subscribe to a monthly service. If all this sounds like hard work and you're looking for a quick and easy solution to ranking well with the search engins, the reality is, there isn't one, unless you have a lot of money to spend. Search engins are worth the ranking effort Like other things in life, good rankings can be hard to get, but valued all the more when you get them. But there are no guarantees of a top ranking with search engins. So much depends on the keyword phrases you choose, the strength and amount of competition you face with your website and the amount of money you have available to spend.
