Stay away from an SEO Company offering guaranteed top rankingsUnless you're prepared to spend a ton of money or take risks using practices that can get your site banned by a search engine. When looking at different SEO companies, consider the approach they use to raise your search engine positions. Stay clear of SEO companies that use cloaked or doorway pages to raise your positions. A cloaked page is a page that is created which is invisible to the regular visitor to your website. The cloaked page is coded to detect a search engine spider and divert them to this special page. The page presented to the search engine is set-up to artificially boost the page's search engine position, often using keyword stuffing. Keyword stuffing involves the repetitive use of keyword phrases often in a page that would make no sense to a human reader. Doorway or bridge pages utilize a concept that redirects traffic to other pages and sometimes other websites that often reside on an entirely different server. They frequently use what are known as temporary redirects, or refresh redirects, and these are frowned upon by the major search engines. All these techniques violate most search engine policy. In the worst case scenario, using these techniques will get your website severely penalized, if not removed entirely from a search engine's index. If your site's pages are not in a search engines index you'll get no traffic from that search engine. Google, one of the largest and most important search engine on the Internet, will remove your website from their index if they detect you have cloaked pages. Never employ an SEO company that uses these techniques ! Another important element is to ensure the SEO Company you hire will not work with your competitors while they are working for you. Obviously, this would seriously compromise the effectiveness of the search engine optimization campaign. Be aware that some SEO companies will use the success they achieve for your website to sell their services to your competitors. So get a written agreement and make sure it's legally binding. Of course, an important factor you want to check out is the SEO company track record. However, don't take the SEO Company's word for it, their results may be biased in order to sell you their services. Ask them which engines they have achieved the best results for. The ones that are important are the most popular engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. Find out what keywords and phrases they are claiming great results with. It's easy to get high rankings with unpopular words that no one is using to search for. What you should expect from an SEO Company is good results using popular keywords that match your target market. Part II of SEO Company - Choosing One is at: SEO Company - Pt II |
